The PFT Health & Welfare Fund's Teacher Mentor Program matches experienced educators with new teachers to support professional development and classroom success. The first few years of an educator's career are critical for developing skills and confidence. The PFT is proud to offer professional development programs to ensure our members advance in their careers and salaries, and thrive. 

Both mentors and mentees will be compensated for their participation.

Join the PFT Health & Welfare Fund for an intensive Praxis Prep Week designed just for School District of Philadelphia employees in emergency certification status or a Career Pathways program! This four-day Praxis PD series is designed to support educators preparing for Praxis 5511, 5154, 5155: Fundamental Subjects exam and similar tests.

Purchase an annual subscription to gain access to online graduate courses at a significant savings available to AFT Pennsylvania members. You'll be able to take one or two courses each term for a total of three courses per year. Courses are offered through a partnership with Misericordia University and Virtual Education Software (VESi).

The Arkema Inc. Science Teachers Program is for teachers in grades 3, 4, 5, or 6. The goal of the program is to bring Arkema scientists and local teachers together to spark an interest in science among elementary school students.

Need in Deed provides free training and support for 3rd-8th grade Philadelphia teachers looking to bring community and empathy building, civic action, and social inquiry to the classroom.
